Well, we’re just a couple of days away from Christmas and I’m looking forward to my first traditional Finnish Christmas. I’m heading up north to a friend’s place in Parikkala. Hoping for a white Christmas, but it’s getting warmer and the snow is melting!!
After several years in China and a distinct lack of Christmassy stuff, I’ve immersed myself in all that Helsinki has to offer. Only a few flurries of snow so far, but Christmas parades, Christmas trees, Christmas stars and Christmas lights everywhere you look. However, I felt that there’s something still missing… something to go with my tea at Christmas time. Mince pies!
I love mince pies – a traditional British Christmas treat. It’s not Christmas unless you’ve stuffed your face with mince pies! As I haven’t come across any in the supermarkets in Helsinki, I donned my pinny and set about baking some. I’m going to take them to my friend’s place to give them a little taste of a British Christmas. I couldn’t help scoff a couple though. And I found that they go perfectly with Dong Ding oolong!
Merry Christmas fellow tea lovers! I’ll be back in 2016 with more tea adventures.
